چکیده

This paper is presentation of the development of advanced approach for modeling and structural analysis of jib structure which is usually part of waterway bucket dredgers. Object of analysis is a jib structure which will be reconstructed for the excavation of grain material from a river bed. Main goal of paper is to proof benefi ts of enough sophisticated i.e. “optimal” FEM model for structural analysis of this type of structures in comparison with simple, but not adequate models. Proper stress state is emphasized as primary, but not only condition. It is necessary to reach serviceability and durability state, as well as aff ordable fi nancial construction circumstances.

Parameter Study of GTN Model in a SLM Manufactured Lattice Structure under Compression by Using FEM

This study investigates the effect of material parameters of the Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) model on the failure prediction of cellular structures. The effect of elastic modulus, calibration parameter of GTN model, isotropic hardening, fracture strain, and strut diameter on the load-displacement curve of a lattice structure fabricated by Selective Laser Melting (SLM) has been studied by u...

FEM Updating of Ship Structure by The Sensitivity Equation of Transmissibility Function

This study presents a novel sensitivity-based finite element model updating approach to estimate structural parameters using output-only data. A quasi-exact sensitivity relation based on transmissibility data is introduced. Partially measured structural responses are included in mathematical formulations to address incomplete measurement problems and improve the accuracy of the sensitivity rela...

Prediction of Service Life in Concrete Structures based on Diffusion Model in a Marine Environment using Mesh Free, FEM and FDM Approaches

Chloride-induced corrosion is a key factor in the premature corrosion of concrete structures exposed to a marine environment. Fick's second law of diffusion is the dominant equation to model diffusion of chloride ions. This equation is traditionally solved by Finite Element Method (FEM) and Finite Difference Method (FDM). Although these methods are robust and efficient, they may face some numer...

Optimal Design of Sandwich Panels Using Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm and Finite Element Method

Low weight and high load capacity are remarkable advantages of sandwich panels with corrugated core, which make them more considerable by engineering structure designers. It’s important to consider the limitations such as yielding and buckling as design constraints for optimal design of these panels. In this paper, multi-objective optimization of sandwich panels with corrugated core is carried ...

A New Approach to Buckling Analysis of Lattice Composite Structures

Buckling strength of composite latticed cylindrical shells is one of the important parameters for studying the failure of these structures. In this paper, new governing differential equations are derived for latticed cylindrical shells and their critical buckling axial loads. The nested structure under compressive axial buckling load was analyzed. Finite Element Method (FEM) was applied to mode...
